Welcome to Winnetka Congregational Church. Since
we opened our doors in 1874 we have been a warm,
friendly, caring “House of Worship for All People”
(as it says across the top of our building).
We’re about people. We’re about community. We’re about you.
Many aspects of our Sunday experience suggest “traditional,” including our building and worship style. We have a large (and beautiful) pipe organ. Our ministers often wear robes.
But the emphasis here is on a shared experience of the Sacred.
AND we’re progressive in our values and beliefs.
Our spiritual vision is broad, our minds are open, and our commitment to the community is non-negotiable. Though not associated with a particular denomination, we’re part of the “mainline Protestant” family of churches (like Presbyterian, UCC, Methodist, and Lutheran (ELCA), and we engage intellectual, spiritual, and social questions with honesty and creativity, striving to make the world a better place.
We have been in a “visioning process” for a number of months, making sure that in the years ahead we continue to become the kind of bold, caring, and vibrant church we want to be…and that our community and world needs. To learn more about that, click the button below.
Churches are not perfect, but I love that Christian communities do try to carve out
a space of grace where people from all walks of life come together to imagine a
world of hope, justice, and peace.

Join us in welcoming our new pastor, Paulo Gustavo França
Born in Brazil, after earning his Master of Divinity and Master of Theology at Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond, VA., Rev. Paulo has served churches large and small around the country. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have him here at Winnetka Congregational Church to inspire and guide us in being the kind of Christian community that brings people together to “…imagine a world of hope, justice, and peace.”
